The
Stress Reduction & Relaxation Program was
developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical
Center as a compliment to a wide range of medical
problems from headaches to cancer and everything
in between. The link between our minds and bodies
is strong. Practicing mindfulness aids in healing
and boosts our immune system. But even more importantly,
it leads to a more peaceful, yet productive
life. Not in Boston? The University offers a directory to
locate a trained practitioner in your area.
You may also find the book Full Catastrophe
Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to
Face Stress, Pain, and Illness by Jon Kabat-Zinn,
Ph.D. helpful. Dr. Zinn, the founder of this program,
has also authored several CDs. Although we haven’t
listened to all of them, we highly recommend Mindfulness
Meditation: Cultivating the Wisdom of Your Body and
Mind.
Spiritual pursuits can
bring a profound sense of well-being and purpose
to life as well as provide us with a larger community,
the value of which cannot be underestimated. Beliefnet provides
spiritual inspiration. It's Belief-O-Matic quiz
can help you identify which religious practice fits
your beliefs.
